About Ostomy Surgery
A patient may require an ostomy for many different reasons, some of which include:
Birth Defects
Diverticulitis
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Severe Pelvic or Abdominal Trauma
Incontinence
One of the most common types of ostomy surgery is a colostomy. This is where a portion of the rectum or colon (large intestine) is removed and the remaining colon is moved forward to the abdominal wall. The common reasons for a colostomy include the ones mentioned for general ostomies but also: cancers, bowel obstructions, and injury. Other kinds of ostomy surgery are urostomies where the bladder is affected and ileostomies where the small intestine is affected. -
A Smooth Transition
The need for ostomy surgery can occur to anyone regardless of age. Life expectancy is not lowered, but the patient has to adjust to a new way of life. Jameson Medical strives to make this transition as easy as possible through our ostomy/colostomy products.

We bundle ostomy/colostomy bags in 90-day supplies with three boxes in each shipment. By selling the bags in increments, we are able to offer better prices and free shipping. Choosing an Ostomy/Colostomy Bag
Our ostomy/colostomy products are intended to be effective, provide comfort, and go undetected by others. There are different styles of ostomy bags to choose from. The right kind for one patient might be different from the right kind for another, so keep that in mind when choosing. You should also consult your doctor or specialist for the best medical advice.
Jameson Medical offers one-piece system ostomy/colostomy bags. It is intended to fit around your stoma and attach via a gentle adhesive. Once you need a new bag, you simply remove the whole thing and replace it with a fresh one. Some styles are even flushable for additional convenience.
We also supply ostomy/colostomy two-piece systems. A bag is attached to a base plate that is fitted tightly around your stoma. The bag is changed as needed while the base plate is replaced every 2-3 days.Closed and Drainable Ostomy/Colostomy Bags
We offer both closed and drainable ostomy/colostomy bags. Closed bags are best for collecting firm stools and are typically changed twice daily. Drainable bags, on the other hand, are practical for more liquid waste. They are emptied through an opening at the bottom and changed every 2-3 days. We also have mini pouches that are worn for a shorter amount of time.
